Kauffman Eye Care is Hiring an Ophthalmic Technician Near Indianapolis, IN

Job Description:

Kauffman Eye Care is a premier, comprehensive ophthalmology practice. Our busy and growing ophthalmology practice is located on the East side of Indianapolis. We are looking for an outstanding ophthalmic technician to join the team supporting Dr. Kauffman.

The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for performing measurements and tests to provide information for Dr. Kauffman to diagnosis and treat patients, collecting data from patients, administering treatment ordered by Dr. Kauffman and supervising patients.

Required qualities for the Ophthalmic Technician include: warm and friendly personality, well organized and able to multi-task in a fast paced clinical setting, excellent critical thinking skills, excels as a teammate, strong computer skills and presents a professional image.

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of success in ophthalmology for three to five years. Candidates should either be certified or willing to pursue certification.

This position will work Monday-Friday, from 7:45am-5:00pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Open exam rooms at the beginning of the shift, ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor

· Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.

· Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic and extensive information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry, keratometry, visual fields, tonometry, A-scan, OCT, fundus photography, assist with clinical procedures

· Fit patients for contact lenses, train on contact lens insertion and removal, and order contact lenses.

· Acquaint all patients with the office procedures to which they will be exposed. Inform patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how they will be affected during the tests.

· Assist in the maintenance and calibration of equipment

· Stock all necessary supplies; clean all equipment and close exam rooms at the end of the day

· Regularly communicate and interact with Dr. Kauffman, the practice manager and other members of the team.
